Note: prefer uv with a local virtual environment under .venv.
# 1. (only if the venv is missing/stale)
uv venv
uv pip install -r requirements.txt
# 2. create the local database
uv run python manage.py migrate
uv run python manage.py createsuperuser
# 3. run the server
uv run python manage.py runserver
Then http://127.0.0.1:8000 and the Wagtail admin at http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin.
In a second terminal, for queued work (social posts, IndexNow, webmentions both directions):
uv run python manage.py run_jobs
Styles are hand-written CSS in theme/static/css/ (site.css is the entry point). There is no
build step: edit the files and reload.
Queued work - social posts, standard.site records, IndexNow submissions and webmentions both ways - is done by one worker beside the server:
python manage.py run_jobs
What each site does is switched on under Settings in the Wagtail admin: Webmentions says whether the site takes mentions in, how many unproven claims it holds per page, and whether publishing a page tells the sites it links to.
